Welcome to St Francis of Assisi Parish

Welcome to our faith community in Pinawa! St Francis of Assisi Parish is a vibrant Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Saint Boniface. We gather to celebrate the Eucharist, grow in faith, and serve our neighbors with the love of Christ.

Our parish is served by Fr. Luke Nwoko, M.Ss.Cc., our Parochial Administrator, who also serves the parish of Lac du Bonnet. We are blessed to be part of the rich tradition of the Catholic Church in Manitoba, following in the footsteps of St Francis of Assisi who taught us to see Christ in all creation and to serve with joy and humility.

Whether you are a long-time parishioner, new to our community, or visiting the Pinawa area, we invite you to join us for Mass and to participate in our parish life. All are welcome!

About the Franciscan Jubilee Year

The Franciscan Jubilee is a special holy year proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, running from January 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027. It commemorates the 800th anniversary of the passing — the transitus — of St Francis of Assisi.

Throughout this year, the faithful are offered opportunities for spiritual renewal, peace, and the grace of plenary indulgences. Our parish is honoured to welcome pilgrims to share in these graces.

A Pilgrimage to Pinawa

Parishioners of St Gerard's, Winnipeg, gathered inside St Francis of Assisi Parish during their pilgrimage to Pinawa
Fr. Peter Tran of St Gerard's Parish, Winnipeg

During the Year of St Francis, the parishioners of St Gerard's in Winnipeg, together with Fr. Peter Tran, made a pilgrimage to Pinawa. It was a day of prayer and fellowship — Holy Mass, picnic lunches, and time to explore the beauty of Pinawa.

We are grateful to all who came, and we pray that the example of St Francis continues to inspire us to grow in love of God and of one another.

Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
